Membership Requirements

A commitment to fair and honest trading.

Trading for a minimum period of 12 months.

Public Liability Insurance of at least £2million.

Employer’s Liability Insurance of at least £5million (where applicable).

Agreement to comply with the Scheme’s Code of Practice.

Willingness to work with Trading Standards should any problems arise.

Compliance with all relevant legislation.

Payment of the annual membership fee, currently £99+VAT (payable once the application process has been completed).

Carry out one of the trades currently supported by the scheme. If your trade is not listed please get in contact with us.
Application Process

Applications are made using the form below. (* denotes mandatory information that must be completed).

Please select the appropriate trade category(s) for your business. You can enter multiple trades by clicking the “add a trade” button each time you have selected one.

On receipt of your application Trading Standards will:

Ensure that all essential criteria are met.

Verify all information provided.
-
Request that you provide 3 Customer References.

Request a copy of your public liability insurance.

On receipt we will contact you again to arrange a visit to your premises. (This can be at your home address if you trade from home).
Please Note

By completing the form you are applying for membership but are NOT a member at this stage.

No reference to applying for or being a member should be made until you have paid the membership fee and received your membership pack.

Use of the Safe Trader Scheme logo by traders who are not current members is a criminal offence and will be investigated by Trading Standards.
