Assistance from Trading Standards
Trading Standards will work with your business to provide information on current legislation and to offer advice on making sure your paperwork is in compliance with the law. We can advise on such topics as contract terms and conditions, cancellation notices, business names, changes in consumer protection legislation and website compliance. Should a dispute arise with one of your customers Trading Standards will be able to provide you with advice on the situation and may be in a position to mediate with a view to resolving the dispute. If you do receive a complaint or are having a problem with a customer Trading Standards are able to offer advice and assistance to you to try to resolve any issues. Further the Code of Practice requires you to work with us to try to resolve any disputes. We are available to offer advice to assist you to try to resolve any issues.
If we receive any serious complaints about a trader they can be suspended from the Scheme whilst we investigate. If traders are found to be breaching the terms of the Code of Practice they can be removed from the Scheme permanently. You can be assured therefore that only reputable traders will be permitted to remain on the Scheme.
Promotion of your Business
Lancashire Trading Standards are committed to promoting the Scheme to potential customers through advertising of the Scheme and through our day to day contact with consumers.
Company page on the Consumer Site
Your business will have a dedicated business page on our website which will include your company information, contact details and services that you offer. If you have your own website we will provide a link to it from your profile page. In addition, you will be able to login to a private area that allows you to monitor how many potential customers have searched for your business and read feedbacks that have been submitted by your customers.
You will be permitted to use the Safe Trading Scheme Logo on all your paperwork and websites. You will receive logo stickers for your vehicles, and will be provided with promotional leaflets to provide to potential customers.
A Star rating of your Business
Your business will receive its own star rating and review system based on your customer’s feedback and experience. If you have your own website you can link to this page so that you can promote your own star rating.
Customer feedback allows us to regulate the scheme and ensure that customers are happy with the services they receive. It is also important for you to be aware of what your customers are saying about the services you have provided, this will enable you to make continuous improvements. Customers feel more confident about employing a trader if they know what other people think of them, they feel reassured that they too will have a good experience. Regardless of where a customer heard about you, once the work is completed customers should be encouraged to use the Rate a Trader page on the website. We can also supply you with a paper copy of the feedback form. If you use the paper form we suggest you leave a stamped addressed envelope to encourage customers to return it to us. All feedback is verified before being accepted. Once accepted, it is added to your profile page on the Safe Trader website. This is available for customers to read and helps them to choose a trader. In addition, a good rating is a powerful means of promoting your business.
Trading Standards run an award scheme where we recognise those traders who continue to receive good feedback. Certificates are awarded to traders with the highest levels of feedback and can be used as part of their advertising.
